For more than 30 years, ENCOUNTERS Educational Exchanges has united students, educators, and families through one belief: learning becomes transformation when it begins with understanding.

Our Beginning (1996–2001)
Where Understanding Took Root
ENCOUNTERS began as a dream to create authentic cultural exchanges between Chinese and English-speaking students.
Starting with small partnerships in the United States and China, we designed early immersion programs rooted in home life, friendship, and personal connection. These first encounters proved that when students live language through relationships, their communication and worldview grow together.

Growth and Recognition (2002–2011)
From Language Learning to Leadership
As ENCOUNTERS expanded, new collaborations with schools, agencies and like minded organizations that deepened our reach.
We added leadership, service learning, and cultural discovery tracks that shaped both intellect and character.
During this time, ENCOUNTERS launched the International Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., giving students firsthand exposure to policymakers, diplomats, and thought leaders.
Soon after, our Ivy League and American Advantage programs emerged—introducing students to U.S. universities, innovative classrooms, and the inspiration to pursue global learning paths.

Global Reach (2012–2021)
Learning Across Continents
Over the next decade, ENCOUNTERS programs reached new destinations:
New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, and beyond.
Through family immersion, academic visits, and cultural workshops, hundreds of students each year discovered the beauty of language in motion—where listening, speaking, and serving come together as one life-changing experience.
